As part of the Duos en Résonances project, initiated by Wallonie Design and supported by the SofinaBoël Fund for Education and Talent, Atelier Blink collaborated with Caroline Caucheteur, fish-leather tanner and founder of Peaux de Pêche. The programme aims to foster encounters between designers and craftspeople, encouraging experimentation, reflection and innovation around materials, know-how and uses.
This collaboration developed around fish leather, a distinctive and eco-responsible material derived from by-products of the agri-food industry and transformed using natural tanning processes. Various avenues were explored to reveal both its aesthetic and functional qualities.
The work took the form of a research-driven and experimental process, investigating the physical and graphic properties of the leather through a range of techniques including cutting, weaving, assembly, perforation and screen printing. These experiments expanded the material’s potential applications and opened up new creative perspectives.
Beyond tangible outcomes, the project functioned as a laboratory of ideas, highlighting the richness of dialogue between design and craft. Duos en Résonances values time for research, the exchange of skills and exploratory practices, within an approach attentive to contemporary issues of sustainability and responsible creation.
